A season of listening

Between 20 September and 25 October, Pip & Jim's is taking time to pause, pray and listen — before discerning the next stage of our life and mission.

We want to hear from everyone who has a connection with Pip & Jim's — not only regular members of the congregation, but occasional visitors, neighbours, community groups and others who encounter us beyond Sunday worship.

Rather than asking you to tick boxes, we'd like to hear about your experiences: where you've encountered life, love and hope; when the church has mattered; where people long for deeper belonging and healing; and what needs you see beyond our doors.

Your responses will help us recognise where Christ is already at work among us and in our wider community, and consider how we might join in more faithfully. The Vicar, churchwardens and Church Council will listen carefully to what people tell us, and report back later in the year on the themes we've heard.

You don't need to answer every question. Please respond only to those that speak to you, and say as much or as little as you wish.

Where have you noticed life, love or hope at Pip & Jim's during the past year?

This might have been through worship, friendship, care, an activity or event, or a small encounter with another person.

Can you tell us about a time when Pip & Jim's particularly mattered to you or to someone you know?

What happened, and what made it significant?

What helps people feel that they truly belong at Pip & Jim's — and what could help us deepen that sense of belonging?

You might think about welcome, worship, relationships, communication, participation, accessibility or the use of our building.

Looking beyond our church walls, where do you see a particular need for hope or healing in our neighbourhood and across Cheltenham?

You might think about loneliness, pressure on families, housing, anxiety, isolation, inequality, loss of meaning, or needs that are easily overlooked.

Where have you seen Pip & Jim's making a positive difference beyond our doors?

This might be through partnerships, hospitality, practical support, campaigning, care for creation, use of our building, or simply being a good neighbour.

What is one thing we could do — or do more deeply — to help people and communities beyond our doors flourish?

As you look towards the next five years, what do you sense God may be calling Pip & Jim's to become or to do?

Where do you particularly long to see healing, transformation or new life?

Privacy. You may complete this questionnaire anonymously. If you choose to provide your name or contact details below, these will be used only in connection with the Season of Listening and to contact you if you've invited us to.

Your response will be shared with the Vicar, churchwardens and members of the Church Council so they can listen carefully and discern the themes arising from the consultation. We may share an anonymised summary with the wider congregation and community, but we won't identify or quote you publicly without your permission.

Please take care when including personal or sensitive information about yourself or anyone else. If a response raises a serious concern about someone's safety or wellbeing, we may need to share relevant information with the appropriate person or authority, but will do so as carefully and confidentially as possible.
