Welcome to Pip and Jim’s – from Rev Ruth
Dear friends,
It’s never easy walking through the door of a new church. So I’m glad you’ve landed here on our website — and I hope that what you read gives you a real sense of who we are, and perhaps encourages you to come and see for yourself one Sunday.
At Pip and Jim’s, we are an inclusive, creative, contemplative and adventurous church community in the heart of Cheltenham. We love liturgy — its beauty, rhythm and depth — but we’re also alive to fresh ideas and new ways of encountering God. We welcome questions, celebrate difference, and try to live out the transforming love of Christ in our worship and in our everyday lives.
We’re rooted in scripture, open to mystery, and grounded in a Gospel that calls us to justice and joy. Some Sundays are still and meditative, others full of movement and music. Our worship draws on the richness of the Anglican tradition, with music that blends the best of old and new — led by both robed choir and music group.
We’re part of the Inclusive Church network, and committed to climate justice — currently working towards our Gold Eco Church award. We’re passionate about building a better world, and we believe that faith and action belong together. That’s why you’ll often find us praying with our feet — whether that’s through campaigning, partnership, or community action.
We’re proud to be in ongoing friendship with St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ramallah on the West Bank, and we also share a close and joyful relationship with our neighbours at Bethesda Methodist Church here in Cheltenham.
Our church building is alive seven days a week — not only with worship and prayer, but with choirs, toddler groups, concerts, craft markets, open mic nights, the Samaritan’s beer festival and theatre. We believe church is not just a place to go, but a place to grow — and a place from which we are sent to love and serve the world.
If this sounds like the kind of community where you might join in with the adventure of life, faith and love — we’d love to meet you.
Peace and every blessing,
Rev Ruth
